1. The November 3rd Theses are very thought-provoking, esp for those who
are Democrats and think the party needs reforming. I am not sure it can
be reformed, sometimes organizations must die and be replaced. It is as
beholden to special interests and big money as the Republicans. Check
their website also, they have a postering effort going on in 23 states
so far, spreading the theses far and wide.

2. George Lakoff (University professor and
linguist) says our progressive values are the traditional American
values, and we need to put them out there loud and clear.

3. Tom Hayden has some very specific ideas
about how we as activists can bring about the end of the Iraq war.

4. Economic armageddon is what is likely to
occur. This article lays it out short and sweet, the same stuff that I
have been reading in other places. Not good news, but ignore at our own
peril.

the realities of being a progressive Southern feminist. Makes me wonder

4. Here's one person's analysis of why Kerry
conceded and did not take his fight public. Hard to know if it's true or
not, though it makes some sense to me.

5. It isn't the religious voters, says this
writer - it's the irreligious, amoral ones who think torture is a good
idea and worrying about children's health is wimpy.

religious vote is not as large as you think, and the fearful ones can
still be reasoned with.

2. Perhaps this election outcome can work in
favor of progressives, turning the Democratic party away from their
right-ward shift.

5. I am trying to avoid calling names, so I
feel a little funny forwarding this. Sending it anyway. Let's hope he's
wrong about the inner soul and heart's desire parts.
"As democracy is perfected, the office of president represents, more and
more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious
day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart's desire at last
and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron."

1. Palast believes Kerry actually won - read why in this article.

2. This writer points out that there wasn't
a clear policy alternative to Bush. What is the galvanizing issue that
could bring more people together in a populist movement? Kerry certainly
didn't offer one.

3. Some very pointed observations about the
Democratic Party's failure, and suggestions about what needs to change
